If you are on a budget you definitely have been thinking of how you can justify purchases of things and how it will fit into the grand scheme of spending. Sometimes you might see some wedding items as unnecessary but as a part of tradition, you probably don't want to leave those things out. But if something can be re-used, well then that makes the purchase easier!
The Pickle: You really want to buy that seemingly pointless item for your wedding but you would rather spend that money elsewhere for your wedding
The Solution: I got 5 ways for you to give that item a second reason to exist and you can feel better spending money on it.
1. The Guestbook - If you are like me you probably didn't want to have just a sign-in book that you will look at maybe once and store it away in a closet never to be seen again. That 30 bucks is a waste. How about find a way to get the signatures and well wishes on something that can be used as decor for your home? It adds that unique element and is something you will see everyday.
2. The Unity Candle - Again, think home decor.
How about a unity candle holder? You can use this over and over and how cute would this look on the mantle?
We actually went with this floating candle idea. Then you can use it again as a vase for fresh flowers. We all have vases, but this one would be a very special one! I thought it was way too cute when my hubby dug ours out for our anniversary to put the flowers in. :-)
3. Wedding Shoes - Bridal shoes do have a way of making a girl feel like a princess, but after that day you may or may not wear those shoes again. Unless you cleverly find one in a style that looks great when you dress up to go out for a night on the town. But if you are a girl who likes to dress up and is always buying a new pair of shoes, why don't you use the wedding as an excuse to get that pair you have been eyeing to get and was going to buy anyway as a birthday present to yourself? Instead make it extra special and make it your bridal shoe!
4. Bridesmaids Gift Bag - I got my bridesmaids a few items and it would have been really cute to put it all in one of those cute monogramed bags. However, the smaller version lends itself well as a gift bag, but not so much for re-use. The bigger tote versions of those bags are perfect for re-use but can be costly. Go with a re-usable shopping bag! You can find cute ones online and a lot of stores are starting to make cute ones too. Practical and Eco-Friendly!
5. Bouquets - Flowers are going to be a big purchase and they die making it harder when the money is spent but maybe it will lessen the dent in the budget if you cut out the bouquets from the order.
A gift idea doubling as a unique alternative? Uh, brilliant.
There are probably a ton of other ways to double the use of a wedding item, so hopefully these 5 get your creative juices goin'! What ideas can you share for re-use? Share them in the comments or post them on the Wedding Pickle Facebook page!
