I recently read in a book that flower girls no longer toss petals down aisles at weddings because they are slippery and/or poses a problem for clean up. I thought to myself, whoa hold up! Nobody does this anymore? Quite a strong statement to make! Since I was a little girl I always envisioned that a flower girl tosses petals at the wedding. Just the typical wedding image to me.
Now, although I didn’t have my flower girl toss petals (she carried a pomander hanging on a wristlet ribbon), I didn’t chose not to have petals for the reasons above. Really it was because I wanted to have things people didn’t typically expect at weddings. At the time I only knew flower petals so a pomander was totally new to me. It wasn’t until I started blogging that I see a lot of alternatives!
Now, I’m still stuck on this whole, no-one-does-petals-anymore thing. So let’s discuss!
Are you doing petals for the flower girl? Are you doing something different? Do you still see or know someone who is doing petals? I’m really curious to know how much truth there is to that strong statement I read! Do share!
You are a chosen people...that you may declare the praises of him who called you...into his wonderful light. - 1 Peter 2:9
