Dialogue: Oh Goodness, a Stripper!

A big discussion and decision my husband and I agreed on was no strippers for our bachelor/bachelorette parties. My sister threw mine so she knew what I wanted and respected that it was a party in my honor and not for her. The best man however threw a party he would want for himself and put my husband, then fiance, in a situation he was uncomfortable to be in. So not cool.

I get that having a stripper is the typical party thing to have but with so many new alternatives these days and couples even having a combined party, I assumed that asking for no strippers would not have been an issue. I find it to be disrespectful to the relationship. It wasn't a jealousy issue, it was an issue of respect towards the meaning of marriage. Just because you are now going to be married you are supposed to have someone dance and rub up against you? If that wasn't happening before and won't happen after, why now, right before the wedding? Especially if it can cause problems. Needless to say that it caused problems between me and a couple of our groomsmen that to this day is still a rocky relationship with those two. :-( I can forgive but I can't forget that the guys didn't value my husband and I's relationship and wishes. Something I always pray about and trying to work on.

I'm not saying that it can't be for good laughs and funny pictures, especially if you on board for it and know to expect it. Don't take this as me judging at all! I strongly believe it is a decision you and your fiance should make together!

Couples need to be open and firm about their feelings with their bridal party and I believe it is the responsibility of the bridal party to respect that.

This is a touchy subject for many as I see brides post about this in forums! So let's discuss. What are your bachelor/bachelorette party plans? Do you care about strippers? Do you plan to have strippers just because it is what is expected? What are your views on this stereotypical party idea?

Pickle: Bachelorette Party Alternatives

You don't want a stripper. You don't want to get wasted and do embarrassing things. But isn't that what a bachelorette party is?

The Pickle: You don't want to have the typical Bachelorette Party.

The Solution: I got some fun ideas that can clean it up!

Formal Cocktail Party - Have the girls get their hair and nails done, get all gussied up, drink out of nice cocktail glasses, and have a sit down dinner. It can be done at a nice restaurant if you got money. If not, maybe a friend with a nice house can host it at their place.

Cooking Class - I stole this idea from the Real Housewives of Miami. It looks like so much fun to have a chef come to the house and give a cooking lesson. Throw in a few drinks, you learn something and you get to eat good food!

Zumba Party - When my Zumba instructor mentioned that she had to do a birthday party one weekend, I quickly thought what a fun girl's night idea! Hire an instructor for a private party, host it at the gym, or at someone's house with a big living room. Yeah you get sweaty, but it makes for great casual fun and plenty of laughs. Besides, girls just wanna dance right? Then you can have that Corona without feeling guilty!

Slumber Party - We did it as little girls all the time. Sometimes a good old fashioned slumber party is just what a girl needs. Sleeping bags, cute pajamas, gossip and now that you are older, alcoholic beverages!
