Lemon Themed Bridal Shower

I was so excited when Marcella Treybig reached out to me via email telling me she is a future USMC wife as I am! One reason being that seeing a wife be able to maintain a business while being married to the military inspires me to keep going for what I dream of doing. Another reason was her photography! I asked her to share her work and I am so happy to share this awesome bridal shower with you!

The neat thing about this shower was that Marcella not only photographed it, she also hosted it as the Maid of Honor. "I did all the decorations and theme ideas, along with the bridesmaids. [Her] new fiance's last name is Lemon so I had to do a whole take on the last name! Too good to pass up."

Inspiration Week: Pink Cocktail Recipe

What better way to end the Virtual Party than with drinks! I wanted to make a pink drink that was easy enough to make that your guests can mix their own. (Just watch for that one that may like to have strong drinks, lol)

If you look closely at the picture, the right drink is a bit of a darker color than the pink. In person, the right drink looks more orange. The right drink is the perfect light pink! (seen below)

The only problem with this drink is that the name of it is "Pink Panty Pulldown"! Probably more of a name for a Bachelorette Party drink am I right? LOL!

Both drinks taste yummy and all you need on the table is Vodka, Amaretto, Sprite, Ice and Pink Lemonade (I actually used raspberry lemonade since it had a pretty dark pink color)

Here are the drinks:

Pink Cotton Candy

About a shot of Vodka 

just a dash of Amaretto (otherwise you will have a brown drink)

fill with lemonade to taste. Add a little for a strong drink, add a lot to hide that vodka taste!

Stir with a smile!

Pink Panty 

(We'll cut out the 'pull down' for the sake of our moms and grandmothers attending our shower! lol)

About a shot of Vodka

Fill remaining of glass of equal amount of Sprite and Lemonade

Stir with a wink!

Inspiration Week: Thank You Postcard Printable

Of course, like all wedding events, you gotta send a thank you! I have for you here an adorable set of Thank you Postcards from Emily of Redesign That. She was so kind to work with me to make these for my virtual party and to provide them for my readers!

Aren't they so cute!

Print them, cut them out, and use them! I learned a great tip when it comes to those shower invites. Have the guest fill out their address info near the door as they leave or as they arrive. This way you don't have to hunt through addresses to send those babies out. You'll also get the most up to date address when they fill it out themselves.

With a small party you may find this to be a lazy person tip. But I believe time is money no matter what. No use wasting it! With a big party, this tip would come in handy! (Mine was huge and with so many people I didn't know, go figure that some of those people moved and had different addresses than what I had on record. Like I had time to keep track of people I didn't know! lol)

These cards sit at the proper postcard dimensions so they should be able to be mailed just fine with a regular postage stamp.

*Note: For some reason my printer didn't want to print the proper colors as a PDF file. Try Saving the document as a PNG file. When I printed it after converting it to PNG, the size didn't change and the colors printed. Could have just been my wacky printer but just in case, I shared my solution to my technical difficulty, lol.

Inspiration Week: Carnation and Rose Centerpieces

I didn't want to have some elaborate flower action going on because I wanted to have a simple, spring, easter, picnic vibe to the party table decor. Simple and easy, have a single rose rest on a base of carnations. The good thing is that carnations are very affordable so you won't break the bank using this flower in your party decor!

 

I decided to go with a trellis pattern with the ribbon decor around the mason jar. I recommend sharp scissors and gloss finish tape. My tip on the diagonal pieces, don't get too particular about accuracy. It takes a lot of time if you do and ends up not really being noticeable on the finished product because the pieces will overlap. Cut one piece that you measure from the jar, then use that piece as your pattern for cutting the rest of the ribbon pieces.

Double stick tape will also help to keep the ribbon in place. I didn't use any and realized that I wish I had some! What other ribbon designs can you think of? Do share!

I'm so glad you are here to attend my party! I'll try to avoid saying the word "Bride" all week, lol. Anyone playing that game at their bridal shower?

Dialogue: Showers Big and Small

I have mentioned before how I had a very large Bridal shower and wished for a small one. My reason was because I didn't get to spend much time with my friends and family because it took 2 hours to unwrap all the gifts. But, on the other hand, had it not been large maybe I wouldn't have had

lots of cake, 

lots of food, 

and lots of margaritas, 

That is me :p

It was a lot of fun meeting people and socializing don't get me wrong! I just can't get over how bad I felt that I had friends show up who I hadn't seen in years, and only talked with them for 10 minutes.

Oh well, everyone loves a party and I love parties that were about my wedding!

Dialogue: Skip the Wrap

I read a blog post a few weeks ago about wrapping or not wrapping gifts for bridal showers. I thought this was a good topic to talk about the green aspect of weddings. A lot of senseless paper is wasted at these events.

For instance, I probably had about 50 people at my shower. (I didn't know most of the ladies, but who is to say no to a party that someone wants to throw for you) Of course, with that, garbage bag after garbage bag was filled with wrapping paper, ribbon, tissue paper. . . it was tragic really. All such good paper thrown out. Could have been the pages of a new beautifully bound Bible if you ask me.

Last year, I got the chance to attend a bridal shower that specified not wrapping the gifts and just attaching a favorite recipe to the unwrapped present. I thought it was weird at the time, but now I think it is a great idea. Paper is saved and the gift giver can still add a personal touch to the gift that way. Plus it saves time so you can socialize with the people you care about.

Can we all get a gift like this for our showers? lol

Now, some people did get creative with some of my gifts which was very touching to me:
~ A group of ladies did a group gift. Party items and supplies all packaged inside of a cooler. Party in a box!
~ One lady gave me some bathroom items and used a super soft bath towel to wrap it.

So, skip the wrapping, get creative and stop the paper wasting. What do you think?
