Guest Post: Get that Shot in a Time Crunch

As you read this I am probably stressing out about finding a place to live. My hubby and I hope to find a house to rent before the weekend because there is a truck out there with our stuff coming to Pensacola with no address. Pickle: You're under a time crunch for capturing photos on your wedding day. This could be the result of time restrictions at the ceremony and/or reception location, strict cut-off times with certain vendors, or a larger than usual wedding party.

Solution: Plan ahead and get creative - and you'll get all of those heavily coveted shots.

First, start off by concocting a plan of attack with your photographer. He or she will tell you what photos can get done in how much time.

Second, consider splitting your photos up throughout the day. If you have some time before the ceremony, and are open to doing formal shots with your groom and your whole wedding party then, go for it. If you're just too traditional for that, then try to pick a convenient location for the shots to get taken between the ceremony and reception. Seek out locations that provide either a blank or visually interesting backdrop, which can often be as simple as a nearby park or building facade.

Next, be specific with your photog about what shots you want to get. The more detailed you can be with groupings of bridal party members or poses for you and your groom, the quicker you'll be able to move from one set-up to the next and you'll minimize the downtime between shots.

Finally, think about adding on the second shooter option to your photog's base package, if one isn't already included. This not only allows for a greater range of photos in general when you scroll through that online gallery after the wedding, but will also ensure that if you're getting formal photos during either the cocktail hour or a part of the reception*, you won't be missing out on getting guest photos during that same time.

*Yes, I said reception. I know some people are committed to being on the dance floor for the entirety of their reception (hey, after all those long hours of planning...you deserve it!), but just 10 minutes with your photographer during the reception can allow for some formal photos that you may not have captured yet (family photos, etc).
