With my Dad's side of the family being Dominican, I remember growing up and anytime there was a party or a get together, loud Merengue music was played and everyone danced! So when I was putting together my reception playlist, I knew I had to have lots of Salsa and Merengue music. We played it loud, people danced and it was a hit!

I think the wedding traditions on my side of the family were pretty standard, something old, blue, new etc & it wouldn't be a wedding without lots of embarrassing dad/uncle/mum dance moves! My husband's family are from Iraq & Kuwait so we played some fun Arabic music at our reception too :)
I wish we had traditions to honor in our family...perhaps I'll start a new tradition when the time comes.
My spouse's family had two related to weddings:
1 - the use of a cake knife that belonged to my spouse's grandma
2 - the presence of a pair of silver candle sticks that belonged to a great grandma
These two traditions have held for at least 5 weddings in the family (all cousins, but over 20+ years). I thought it was pretty neat. My family certainly didn't have any!
