I get that having a stripper is the typical party thing to have but with so many new alternatives these days and couples even having a combined party, I assumed that asking for no strippers would not have been an issue. I find it to be disrespectful to the relationship. It wasn't a jealousy issue, it was an issue of respect towards the meaning of marriage. Just because you are now going to be married you are supposed to have someone dance and rub up against you? If that wasn't happening before and won't happen after, why now, right before the wedding? Especially if it can cause problems. Needless to say that it caused problems between me and a couple of our groomsmen that to this day is still a rocky relationship with those two. :-( I can forgive but I can't forget that the guys didn't value my husband and I's relationship and wishes. Something I always pray about and trying to work on.
I'm not saying that it can't be for good laughs and funny pictures, especially if you on board for it and know to expect it. Don't take this as me judging at all! I strongly believe it is a decision you and your fiance should make together!
| My bachelorette party started at a fancy bowling lounge in downtown OKC. I'm in the middle, guess who my sister is? |
Couples need to be open and firm about their feelings with their bridal party and I believe it is the responsibility of the bridal party to respect that.
This is a touchy subject for many as I see brides post about this in forums! So let's discuss. What are your bachelor/bachelorette party plans? Do you care about strippers? Do you plan to have strippers just because it is what is expected? What are your views on this stereotypical party idea?
Are you having combined parties as I see as a new trend? Are you not having parties? What party alternatives are you looking at doing? Go ahead and share! I'm curious what my readers think!

I completely agree with you! Regardless of whether it is a stripper or something else, the party is for you and your wishes should be respected. I also have some issues lately with friends who want to practically take a vacation for their parties adding to the already huge cost of being in a wedding! Just because you are getting married doesn't mean you are entitled to a $600 getaway weekend. Just a little pet peeve of mine! :)
Wow, that is such a bummer! I completely agree that the bride and groom's wishes should be respected! The day (and everything surrounding it) is about them, and not anyone else! Although I also agree with Alicia - since I am a bridesmaid like every other weekend (ok, slight exaggeration) I can't afford these extravagant bachelorette weekends on top of everything else I'm spending for the wedding! I think that brides and grooms need to be considerate of their party, and vice versa! And there should be clear lines of communication so that resentments don't come up that will last beyond the wedding. Sorry to hear that was the case for you guys. :(
Absolutely! If it's not a good idea for them they must respect since it's your day you must be the one to be followed.
