Guest Post: Wedding Postage

When it comes time to mail your wedding invitations you can find yourself in a few different pickles. Here are some tips for making sure your wedding invitations are mailed without a hitch:

Know Which Postage Stamp You Need

The amount of postage you need is based on the dimensions and weight of your invitations. If you have a square invitation or one with a fastener, you'll have to pay an extra 20 cents in postage. Don't Ruin Your Invites with Ugly Stamps

Did you know the USPS only has 2 wedding-themed stamps at face value? If you're invitation is oversized or weighs more than 2 oz, there are NO wedding-themed stamps available at face value. Thankfully there are custom wedding stamps for all first-class rates! You'll pay a small premium over the face-value of the stamp, but with over 150,000 choices, you'll find a stamp to coordinate beautifully with your invitations.
Hand Canceling is a Pain

If you don't want an ugly postmark to appear on your invites, you'll need to take them to the post office and ask to have them hand-canceled. They probably won't be very happy with you since this means extra work for them.

The good news is that if you buy custom wedding postage you won't have to hand-cancel your invites! They use a special technology that keeps them from being postmarked meaning that your invitations arrive looking beautiful. Plus, then you can mail them from any US mailbox and save yourself a trip to the post office.
Don't forget RSVP stamps
